LSU musicologists at annual meeting of the Southern Chapter of the American Musicological Society
Geaux LSU Musicology!!!!!
The LSU musicologists have just returned from the annual meeting of the Southern Chapter of the American Musicological Society (http://www.music.lsu.edu/~smi/AMSS/AMSS.html). The meeting took place at Nicholls State University and was organized by LSU alumna Melissa Goldsmith. It was a tremendous success in general and for LSU in particular. Seven LSU students attended and two of them read papers (Tim Love and Tina Huettenrauch). Tina won the $250 prize for the best student paper read at the meeting. Of the LSU faculty, Brett Boutwell read a wonderful paper on the sources and significance of Morton Feldman's early graphically notated compositions. Jan Herlinger, who chaired a session and served as chair of the Nominating Committee, called the meeting one of the best in the Chapter's history. I am exceedingly proud of our showing and honored to currently serve this Chapter as President.
