John Thiessen: baroque trumpeter/entreprenuer @ LSU this week

From Professor Brian Shaw: We're proud to host John Thiessen here this week as a joint guest of the Pellar Entrepreneurship program and the trumpet studios.

John is one of the most active Baroque musicians in the world, as the "top call" early trumpeter in North America, and is on the faculty of the Julliard School, the American Bach Soloists Academy, and serves as the hiring agent/personnel manager for all instrumentalists at Trinity Church Wall Street in New York.   (I've attached his impressive bio to this email.)

He is giving a masterclass on Friday morning (Feb. 17) in the Recital Hall from 9:30 to 11am.  If you have students (on period or modern instruments) who would like to be coached on an historically informed approach to a Baroque piece they're preparing by him, please let me know and we'll do our best to make sure they have an opportunity to play for him.

John will be actively leading sessions with the Pellar Entrepreneurship program headed headed by Joe Skillen.  The times for those are Friday afternoon, from 4:30-8:30, and Saturday morning from 8:30-11:00a.m.  Details on each of those sessions will be forthcoming.

Finally, he will be giving a solo recital, which will be on Saturday night (Feb. 18) at 7:30, also in the RH.
