Exxon/Mobil Matching Gifts to LSU benefit LSU Opera

Megan Barrera, a native of Miami, FL is currently finishing her Master's in Music at Louisiana State University.  She completed her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor in Music, at the University of Miami, FL (2009).
Danielle Greiner, a Mezzo-soprano from Treynor, IA is in the  Master’s program at LSU and has an undergraduate degree from Simpson College in Iowa. She has been an apprentice artist for two seasons at the Des Moines Metro Opera.
Michael Borowitz (Music Director of LSU Opera) American conductor and pianist is Assistant Professor of Opera with Louisiana State University, as well as Artistic Director of Nevada Opera and music director of the Ohio Light Opera.

LSU Theatre’s DANCE CONCERT 2011, directed by Molly Buchmann, performs at the Shaver Theatre, M&DA Building on Dalrymple Drive - LSU campus, and runs April 30 and May 1, 2011.

LSU Theatre will present its 10th annual DANCE CONCERT 2011, featuring a blend of various styles of dance ranging from ballet and lyrical/modern, to hip hop, tap and jazz. The concert will showcase 14 distinctly different pieces and highlight more than 70 dancers with choreographed pieces by students and LSU Theatre faculty Susan Perlis and Christine Chrest. Special guest works by LSU Legacy, a hip hop student dance team portraying American youth and urban energy. 

LSU Theatre’s DANCE CONCERT 2011 provides young choreographers with the exciting opportunity to experiment and produce their work on a larger scale. Don’t miss this fast-paced, powerful experience of dance entertainment.

Performing Arts Series presents Trio Angelico

Trio Angelico comes to LSU School of Music as part of the Performing Arts Series. This group performs “music from the heart” as three distinct voices come together: Sonja Bruzauskas, mezzo soprano; Jennifer Keeney, flute; and Vicki Seldon, guest pianist in the Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on April 6.

Admission is free for LSU students with I.D. General admission is $10.

On April 5 at 4:30 p.m. the group will conduct a workshop for students in the Music & Dramatic Arts building, room 249 entitled. “Engaging New Audiences: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Music Performance” where they will share lessons from their work to expose the community to artistic experiences that blend science, literature and philosophy to build audiences.

Bruzauskas was recently the featured soloist with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. Trio Angelico regularly performs with Divas World, a Houston-based non-profit performing arts organization “dedicated to enriching lives through spirited and musical performances that touch the mind, heart and soul.”
