Laptop Orchestra of Louisiana (at LSU)

The Laptop Orchestra of Louisiana, held its very first full concert at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA on March 9, 2010. Prof. Stephen D. Beck is the found/director of this unique ensemble.

Many thanks to Jeremy Sagala for his help in organizing the event, and to the staff and students at SELU.

LSU A Cappella Choir performs with Memphis Symphony

The LSU A Cappella Choir under the diretor of Dr. Kenneth Fulton, performed A German Requiem (Ein deutsches Requiem, nach Worten der heiligen Schrift op. 45) by Johannes Brahms with the Memphis Symphony at the Southern Division American Choral Directors Association Convention on March 12, 2010 in Memphis, Tenn. This is the seventh time in the last 25 years the A Capella Choir was invited to perform.  Graduate students Terrance Brown and Kathryn Drake were featured soloists.


The Dean was in attendance and very proud of Dr. Fulton and our students.

LSU Theatre in South Korea!!!

South Korea is widely recognized as a leader in theatre education in Asia. The LSU Dept. of Theatre has been invited to be the only U.S. institution invited to participate in a major collegiate theatre festival in June 2010--The Young Theatre Festival 젊은 연극제, Seoul, Korea, 2010.


Michael S. Tick, Professor and Chair, Department of Theatre, Artistic Director of Swine Palace and E.J. Cho, associate professor of Sound Design, did an advance planning trip to Seoul and were also speakers/presenters at a major higher education conference.


The LSU Dept. of Theatre will take Antigone to this festival in June 2010.

Distance learning for Louisiana from the CMDA

The College of Music and Dramatic Arts has an exceptional team of researchers, faculty, technical experts and professional staff to bring performing arts distance learning into Louisiana classrooms. The initial thrust of this program will be exposure, enrichment and engagement with interdisciplinary K-12 offerings.
